OVERVIEW

Cayucos is one of the most amazing places along the California coast. We want to see your artwork that tells a great Cayucos summertime story! We’re looking for the best to showcase not only our gorgeous Cayucos-by-the-Sea views and activities, but to acknowledge the beautiful artwork of our locals and visitors.

There are three submission categories:
Summer - People & Pets
Summer - Landscape
Summer - Business at the Beach

Winning entries will be asked to submit a high-resolution image at the time of selection. We accept any form of 2D still artwork, including photography, paintings, etchings, illustration, and mixed media. We are not accepting video submissions.

WINNERS SELECTED: July 6, 2021

One winner will be selected from each category above by a jury of local Cayucos professional artists and Chamber leaders. Out of these winners, one will be chosen for the grand prize.

• CATEGORY PRIZES (2): A gift basket of local Cayucos items valued at $50 and a winner recognition certificate

• GRAND PRIZE (1): A two-night hotel stay in Cayucos (subject to availability), dinner for two gift certificate (subject to availability), a prize pack of Cayucos gifts valued at $50, and recognition certificate

Winning images will be featured in Cayucos Chamber of Commerce marketing and promotion materials.

Entries must…

• …be an original work of the submitting artist and created during the 2021 calendar year.

• …include Cayucos and a summer motif as part of the subject matter. Creative interpretation encouraged.

• …be family-friendly and appropriate for sharing with the general public. Vulgar, offensive, or inappropriate content will be disqualified at the sole discretion of the organizers.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

By participating in this competition, you accept these rules, terms, and conditions applicable to the contest plus any terms and conditions of third party participants.

The Promoter
The Promoter is the Cayucos Chamber of Commerce, PO Box 106, Cayucos, CA 93430.

Eligibility

The winner may be required to provide proof of identify and eligibility. Failure to produce sufficient evidence as to identity may result in disqualification. No entries from agents, third parties, groups, or entries automatically generated by computer will be accepted. No incomplete, illegible, or corrupted entries will be accepted. Failure to comply with any of these terms and conditions (including instructions) will disqualify any entrant from taking part in the competition and the entry will be invalid. The Promoter retains sole discretion to refuse entrants the right to enter if it feels that these terms and conditions are not being complied with or for any valid and justifiable reason. The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify any entrant and/or winner who’s entries contain lewd, violent, dangerous, damaging, or other content deemed inappropriate.

One entry is accepted per category, per skill level (for example, professional photographers may enter two images, one for landscape and one for people & pets). Open to all US citizens 18 years of age and older. Cayucos Chamber of Commerce general members, committee leads, and volunteers may submit entries unless they are part of the contest committee. Cayucos Chamber of Commerce employees, officers, board members, contest committee members, prize donation vendors, judges, and their family members are ineligible to submit entries.

There is no entry fee required for this competition.

Prizes

Prizes exclude travel expenses to Cayucos. It is the responsibility of winners to cover all travel costs associated with prize redemption.

Taxes and gratuities on all prizes are the responsibility of the participant. Prizes have no cash value and must be claimed in the format they are offered. Prizes are not transferrable and may not be sold or bartered. Prize winners release the Cayucos Chamber of Commerce and all of it’s contest partners from all liability resulting in acceptance of their prize.

Prizes must be redeemed not later than December 31, 2022. In the event that a prize goes unclaimed, no alternative prize will be offered. The prize provider and Promoter retain the right to substitute the prize with another prize of similar value in the event that the original prize offered is not available. The winner must use and/or redeem the prize at their own risk.

The Cayucos Chamber of Commerce and its contest partners shall not be liable in any way for any failure, liability or breach by any third party in connection with this competition or prize and accepts no responsibility for any loss, property damage, or personal injury suffered by the winner relating to this competition or the prize, so far as permitted by law. The winner agrees to exclude responsibility and all liabilities arising for reasons beyond the competition promoter’s control including any act or default of any third party supplier.

Judging
The lead judge and competition host is Lori Stone, Cayucos Chamber of Commerce Community Manager. She will manage all entries and provide all necessary details to participating judges. Judges will select their five top entries for each of the four categories, who will become semi-finalists. Judges will vote on one final winner per category. From these final winners, one grand prize winner will be selected. Judges reserve the right to select runners-up and/or other non-winning participants for special recognition without awarding a prize. Winners will be notified by e-mail by in July 2021. Decisions of the judges are final and binding.

Copyright and Publicity
Publicity may be given to the winners, winners names, and photographs.

By entering you agree to allow The Cayucos Chamber of Commerce to publish your photos in its marketing efforts and social media outlets for up to ten years. Participants must own the copyright to any photographs entered and will retain copyright to the photographs. Participants agree to receive communications from the Cayucos Chamber of Commerce for this competition and other non-competition activities. By entering the competition, you agree to your personal data being used for Cayucos Chamber of Commerce activities and marketing. All personal data submitted by an entrant in connection with this competition is submitted voluntarily. Participants will not be compensated for competition participation in any Cayucos Chamber of Commerce marketing and activities during this competition or in the future.

You indemnify the Cayucos Chamber of Commerce, its agents, employees, representatives, associates, affiliates, parent and subsidiary companies against any and all claim, losses, costs, damages, liability, and expenses arising out of the participant’s breach of any of these terms and conditions.

The Promoter reserves the right to modify these rules, suspend, or discontinue the competition at any time, including without limitation where it is necessary to do so due to circumstances beyond its reasonable control or if it cannot be guaranteed that the competition can be carried out correctly for technical or legal reasons or if the Promoter suspects that any person has been manipulating the administration of the competition or has acted unethically in any other way.
