GENERAL FAQ

Q: Can I bring my own fireworks?
A: No. Fireworks are illegal in many parts of San Luis Obispo County. Fireworks shows sponsored by local organizations are done so with county permits. Also, we are in a high fire season.

Q: Can I have my boat next to the pier?
A: Boats are allowed to be in the water but must keep a 500’ safety perimeter around the pier from 1200 to 2200 hours on July 4th.

Q: Can I buy VIP tickets for the fireworks show?
A: We no longer offer the VIP ticket program. Thank you for your past support of that option. Fireworks are free to the public and there are many great spots to watch them from town and the beach.

Q: Who manages July 4th events and how do I get more information?
A: Contact the Cayucos Chamber of Commerce about:
- Fireworks from the pier
- Front Street Faire vendor applications
- Fireworks fundraising

A: Contact the Cayucos Lion’s Club about:
- Parade applications
- Sand sculpture entries
- Lions Club BBQ

Q: Where can I park on July 4th?
A: Parking will be limited throughout town. There are several lots with limited capacity in the downtown core and street parking is available on a first-come, first served basis. Make sure to avoid parking in private lots and property. You may be towed. Paid parking will be provided by Cayucos Elementary School on their lower field by the public library and by the empty lot adjacent to the bridge north of town.

Q: Can I reserve space on the sidewalks before the parade?
A: Do not place chairs on the street until 8pm July 3rd, as they may be removed. You cannot block sidewalk access, but many folks arrive early to set up chairs in advance. Share the space and be kind. Thank you for being a good neighbor with fellow parade-watchers.

HOW WE FUND FIREWORKS

Our annual fireworks spectacular cannot happen without community support. Every year. we rely heavily on community donations, from permanent residents, second home and vacation homeowners, businesses, and visitors.

Our Chamber takes on the enormous effort to produce and fund this annual fireworks show, which costs just over $50K. The majority of funds are raised by proceeds from our annual May Madness party. And if you’ve ever joined us for events like the Antique Faire, Cayucos Car Show, or the Sea Glass Festival you have been instrumental in our funding efforts, as proceeds from these events provide a substantial contribution. Thank you!

Yet, we still rely on additional support and donations from our members, residents, local groups, and visitors…true community partnerships to make the annual fireworks a reality. Plus, fully-funding the event helps to ensure a proper fire and police presence, allowing attendees to enjoy a safe, festive, and fun holiday.
